Table Quiz, 17th April

Winning team

The Ladies Rugby Team is organising a fundraising / fun-filled Table Quiz in the Mall Tavern on Thursday, 17th April 2008 @ 8:00pm. Mick Galwey kindly turned up in support of the girls' efforts and agreed to present the prizes

Tables of 4 cost just €30 and Niamh Dempsey tells me that there are loads of spot prizes on offer. Report with pictures

Thank You from Brian "Tigger" O'Dowd

"I would like to thank all the girls for the hard work they put in over the past year. Their dedication and commitment was second to none and their results throughout the season proved that. Trish has been an inspirational captain and I thank her for her support; I must also thank Jack O'Driscoll, Mags Hayes, Der O'Sullivan and David Condon for their support off the field

Congratulations to Edel Coen and Trish Fitzpatrick on reaching the final of the AIL Division 1 with UL Bohs - you were unlucky with the result after all the hard work by the UL Bohs players and with Edel leading the charge.

Congratulations to Lisa Brick who was the No 10 on the winning side in the final of AIL Division 2 with Waterpark. Lisa also won an All Ireland College's medal with CIT (a team I happen to coach) on Thursday in the Division 2 final. That's 2 medals in one week for Lisa - not bad!

In conclusion I would like to thank Eddie Barnes for his help in the coaching of the team - his expertise made all the difference".

Second XV at wrong end of a 65-5 scoreline

UCC 65 TRALEE 5

Unfortunately for Tralee, Captain Rowland Blennerhassett and his team received a terrible mauling on Sunday last to a much changed and vastly improved UCC side, who had beaten Tralee by just five points last October in the league. While the pack held their own up front, UCC decimated Tralee out wide. Tralee’s sole try was scored by Mike Leahy. This was the last outing for the Tralee 2nd XV this season, and Rowland would like to thank all those who took played with the 2nd’s team this year and especially to ever present team manager, Sean Kelly.

Tralee Exiles

Tralee 43 Exiles 5

The Tralee vs Exiles game for The Gary Giles Memorial Cup on St. Stephen’s Day, is always a highlight in the club’s calendar and this year was no exception. Fielding nearly a full strength squad, Tralee were far too strong for a gallant Exiles side. Nevertheless, both sides were committed to playing running rugby, with 8 tries in total being scored, with not one penalty kick attempted. Tom Cronin, Munster Branch, had a fine game as match referee, while James Walsh, Shane Heffernan, Simon Behan and Killian Chute were the pick of the Exiles side. Alan Creagh had an exceptional game at out half for the victors while Ger Bree, although picked in the pack at number 8 for Tralee, became a quasi permanent fixture out on the wing !! Overall, a most enjoyable day was had with a good work out for Tralee prior to this weekend’s all important fixture.

These games will help the management whittle down the squad to 32 players and then the final squad will be announced towards the end of January.

On the agenda for the U-20s in 2008 is the Six Nations championship, which starts with a home game against Italy on February 1, and the inaugural IRB Junior World Championship, which will take place in Wales between June 1 and 22.

Ticket Orders: As expected the demand for tickets for the Heineken Cup (Pool Matches) and the Six Nations campaign are higher than ever before yet all the orders have not yet been received. To enable us to determine how the scarce supply of tickets will be distributed those of you who plan to do so should please ensure your order is submitted before the end of this month. Anyone who has not received an order form yet should apply immediately to meet that deadline - the order forms were sent out twice as attachments to all those on the database but quite a few new members have joined the database in the past week. .
