UNDER 10’s in Bandon
Tuesday, 08 December 2009 10:17

Tralee under 10’s turned out with a squad of 25 and braved the elements to challenge Bandon and Cork Con in Bandon. Tralee had two even teams, the first playing the first of two Cork Con teams.

Here Tralee were out of the starting blocks early and a great team effort resulted in Paul Lenihan going over for the first try. Tralee played all of the rugby for the next ten minutes resulting in a further 2 tries before Con got on the scoreboard. However, Tralee kept up the momentum and the final score in this match was Tralee 5 Cork Con 2.

Next up was the second Cork Con team and this proved to be a much closer encounter with the scores at a premium, Tralee went behind 3 tries to 2 at one stage but some tremendous defending and good passing movement resulted in two further tries, the match winning try taken by David Boyle with a great break on the wing to touch down giving the final result Tralee 4 Cork Con 3. There were some outstanding performances with Harry Benner, Gearoid Sheahan and Paul Lenihan putting in some huge tackles. Sonia Mcgrath and Sean Gannon turned over some great ball providing some vital possession against a strong Cork Con team. Loughlin Morrisson made a few great drives forward with Dara O Brien, Cael Deely and Adam Maunsell providing good support to provide what was overall a good performance and an impressive team display.

The second team played two games. The first game against Bandons A team which we drew 1/1 and played their second team which we won 3/2. The lads showed true grit in the cold and wet conditions with great team spirit putting into practice what they're learning in training. Two tries were scored by James in the second game and other tries scored by Fergal and Michael. The team played well overall and should be very proud of themselves. Well done lads.
