Tralee U13s had a busy weekend with half the squad on
tour in Wales while those remaining at home travelled
to West Kerry to play Corcha Dhuibhne in the West Munster U13 cup in
gloriously sunny conditions. Tralee opened the game with some fine open play where the
ball was moved quickly along the back line
resulting in a fine individual try by Diarmuid O'Sullivan which was
converted by Rory Hill. Our forwards drove hard at the opposition and were
rewarded with plenty of quick possession through the efforts of Kieran
O'Regan, Daniel Teahan and Caoimhin Herlihy. Richard Boyle had a
fine game with crisp accurate passing. By half time we led by 22 to nil
following tries by Jack O'Shea, Sean Dowling and Karl Hoffman. In the second half Corcha Dhuibhne
responded with a tremendous assault which yielded three tries in succession.
They challenged our defence’s repeatedly and only some desperate tackling
and counter attacking by Ben O'Neill, Anthony Craig, William
Costello, Aoran Deely, Daniel Murphy, Liam Kennedy and Max Benner saved
the day. In the closing minutes Jack Stewart crossed for Tralee's 5th try to seal victory. This was a hard fought but well deserved
victory away from home and the squad can now look forward to the
next round in the coming weeks.
