A squad of 12 U10’s travelled by bus to Muskerry on
Saturday.Briefed by the referee in advance
that high tackles, hand offs etc would be penalized set the tone for a great
match, suberb tackling by Jason – who gets tackler of the day for all matches
kept Ballincollig in their own half for most of the match. Of the 3 games
today, this was to be our best for utilizing space and support of the player
with the ball Paddy and Padraig keeping with the play ready for the off load.
Good defensive play by the cousin pairing of Jim and Tynan saw Tralee win the match 3 – 2.
Probably the last competitive fixture of the season
& a fantastic day for playing a match. An early departure & arrival in Limerick with a squad of 14 eager players saw us start
our opening match to hosts Old
Crescent-after a tentative opening 10 minutes
Crescent scored the only try as both teams showed strong defensive performances
& nervousness in attack. The pace was fast & the pitch was wide so it
was hoped our speed on the wings would tip the balance in our favour, not to be
but promising runs by Seamus Harty, Liam Nolan & Cody Murphy meant Tralee kept the opposition on high alert throughout.
Harry Emerson got through his usual work rate in the tackle while David Burke
& Luke O'Carroll kept the Limerick side
honest.
Tralee rugby hosted Muskerry under 9 last Sat and
despite the weather in Cork and snow on the
county bounds the Cork
side arrived with a small but strong squad of nine players. As we have come to
expect from this South Munster side they were
well up for a challenge and our boys were not going to disappoint.
Tralee played a strong Muskerry under 10 team in the
glorious sunshine at O'Dowd Park on Saturday last.Tralee started well with good running from
Sean Quilter and Colin Scott which led to early tries and gave Tralee a good foundation to bring the game up a level.
Tralee played Skibbereen on Saturday last in a tough encounter in glorious sunshine at O'Dowd Park. The games were broken down in to three twenty minute segments in which all twenty eight of the Tralee under 10 panel played.
Two squads
comprising 24 players & 4 coaches together with 5 volunteer parents
(help very much appreciated, thanks) to take part in a blitz hosted by allow
& comprising of themselves, Cork Con, Kanturk & ourselves. Two panels
of 12 players each took part in an excellent well run competition.
Tralee under 10s travelled
to Cork on Saturday to take on Dolphin RFC.
Tralee went in to a
deserved lead with an early try by Seamus Harty with great support by Adam
Peevers and Tynan Supple. Dolphin came back in to the game with strong running
but were held out by great Tralee defence in particular Luke O'Carroll, Max
Downing, Padraig Crean and Jason Roche.
Tralee under 10’s turned out with a squad of 25 and braved the elements to challenge Bandon and Cork Con in Bandon. Tralee had two even teams, the first playing the first of two Cork Con teams.
