The West
Munster Cup Final was played in perfect conditions on Friday evening in
Castleisland. Tralee conceded a number of penalties early on in the game but
with Cillian O’ Riordan and Aaron Fitzgerald playing their hearts out from
start to finish, competing for everything it helped settle the Tralee side.
With only one score in the game it was a relentless display of passion and
commitment by both sides.

The
Semi-final of the West Munster Cup was played in Tralee V Corca Dhuibhne in blustery showery conditions. This did not prevent
both teams from trying to play open rugby with 9 tries in total being run in.
It was the visiting side who got off to
a better start but it was strong running by Adam Bohan for Tralee who set up a
ruck outside the opposition 22 and then Morgan Moriarty was at hand to weave
past 3 defenders for a try which settled the team. It was nip and tuck for a while
but Tralee’s dominance showed eventually with further tries in the first half
by Luke Barrett, Colm Carmody and Aaron Fitzgerald and Sam Boyle and Tom Hoare
converting.

Well done to the U15s who defeated Castleisland away 8-5 to win the West Munster League playoffs with a game to spare. Captain Luke Barrett was presented with the league trophy by West Munster Youths Chairman Dave McNamara after the game. Photos in the photogallery
The Tralee U-15’s travelled to Castleisland on Saturday in what was the West Munster League final. Both teams got stuck in from the first whistle and did not let up until they walked off the pitch after what was an enthralling competition. It was a very intense game with a lot at stake but it was the Tralee side that came away with the victory.

The Under 15s are playing away in Castleisland on Saturday, kick off 11.00 in what is essentially a league decider. Castleisland came out on top in the previous encounter this season and this promises to be a great contest.
They would really welcome your support.

| The
Christmas layoff took its toll as the Tralee side put themselves under a lot of
pressure in the early stages of this League playoff against a strong Killorglin
side. However after they settled down Tralee started putting nice phases of
play together and captain of the day Iarla Courtney certainly led by example making
many strong runs and counter- rucking at
the breakdown assisted by Colm Carmody who had another fine game. |

The last
match in the West Munster League campaign was played in O’ Dowd Park last
Saturday against a strong Killorglin team. As in previous weeks the Tralee side
were slow to start and it was the visitors who drew first blood with a strong
burst up the middle exposing the Tralee defence and getting the touch down and then
adding the conversion.

came to play the next league match in their campaign last Saturday. Listowel
started strong with their out-half taking on the ball at the Tralee defence but
fierce tackling by Jack Drynan kept the visitors out. |

| The
U-15’s played Abbeyfeale at home on Saturday with a strong panel of 22. The
Tralee side applied early pressure with a nice chip by Sam Boyle over the
opposition centres to force a scrum under the posts which led to the ball being
moved wide to captain of the day Danny Cournane to get over in the corner for
the first try. |

Tralee travelled to Abbeyfeale on Saturday last for the final of the West Munster U15 cup final. Playing with the hill the opening half the exchanges were keenly fought with neither side capable of breaking the opposing defensive lines. Listowel had a powerful pack and Tralee absorbed much pressure before we began to win some clean possession. When we did move the ball wide our back line did look very dangerous. Finally, following a series of phases deep inside the Listowel half Jack Murray moved the ball quickly to see Karl Hoffman crossing near the corner. Rory Hill added the points with a fine conversion from an acute angle..

Tralee got their cup campaign
underway in the opening round with a visit to Abbeyfeale on Saturday morning
last. In the opening exchanges Tralee were slow
to settle and it was Abbeyfeale who started the stronger. However, when we did
win some clean possession our half back pairing of Jack Murray and Rory Hill
moved the ball wide at pace and Andrew Barry used his strength to break through
for our first try. In some well welked forward drives deep in the Abbeyfeale
half Sean Dowling was quickest to react and touched down for our second try. Abbeyfeale
then piled on the pressure and after a series of penalties against Tralee , then opened their account with a well taken
free. Diarmuid O' Sullivan showed great pace on the wing for our third try to
leave the scoreline 21 to 3 at the break.

Tralee U15 Squad
travelled with a somewhat depleted squad to take on their North
Munster opponents for the
third time this year on Sunday last with weather conditions near perfect for
the game. The Limerick boys were up for the challenge this time and went hell for leather into their
visitors from the off in an effort to gain some revenge for the previous two
games.
