As the Senior 18+ Summer Tag Tournament,
organised in Tralee RFC, has had such a positive response over the last 3
summers; and with the Munster summer camps successfully being run for ages 6-13
years old; it was decided to arrange a Youth Summer Tag Rugby League for ages
12-17 as there is nothing organised for this age group to participate in during
the summer.
Whilst this is a new venture for this age
group – there has been a lot of positive feedback coming from members in the
local clubs and teenagers in the schools. It was thought to finally put this speculation to the test and to
organise a summer tag league….
This is an ideal opportunity for both
boys and girls to learn and develop their tag rugby skills and to test you and
your team-mates against some of the other organised teams in the league. What
better way to spend an evening a week than being active, making new friends and
most of all playing in a competitive, but fun and safe environment.
Whilst competition is obviously going to
be a main factor throughout the league, it is essential that other aspects are
taken very seriously such as Teamwork, Sportsmanship and Fair Play.
Teams will consist of 12 players – a mix
of male and female; 7 players on the field of play will include at least 3
females; and games will last 20 min - 10 minutes to each half.Depending on the number of teams entering the
league, each team will play each other through a round robin and the top teams
at the end will qualify to go past the group stages.
The League runs throughout July,
beginning with a Demonstration Night at 7pm on Monday 5 July, and then the
games will be played between 6.30 – 8.30pm on Thursdays 8, 15, 22 & 29 July
2010.
League fees are €25 per child; and Family
Discount: 1st child - €25; 2nd child - €20; 3rd child - €15

In keeping with tradition the Tag Fancy Dress party will be on July 31, 2009 (22:00). Last years party was a great success. There a small number of tickets for this years event still available so get in touch if you want to join in.
